## Functionality

 

The SICK TCT is a passive temperature sensor. The core of the device is a platinum resistor (Pt100) whose electrical resistance changes in a precise and repeatable way with temperature.

• At 0 °C, the resistance is exactly 100 Ohms ($\Omega$).
• As the temperature increases, the resistance increases.

To get a temperature reading, this sensor must be connected to a control device that sends a small current through the Pt100 element and measures the resulting resistance, converting it into a temperature value. The 4-pin M12 connector allows for a 4-wire measurement, which provides the highest accuracy by compensating for any resistance in the connecting cable.
