1. General Description

The OPTO 01 is an optical pulse generator designed for retrofitting onto consumption meters (such as water meters or heat meters). It detects the rotation of the meter’s register (typically a reflective segment on a rotating dial) and converts this movement into an electrical pulse signal.

The sensor conforms to the DIN 19 234 standard (NAMUR), making it a 2-wire current interface device. It is ideal for building automation, remote meter reading (AMR), and energy management systems.

3. Wiring

The sensor utilizes a 2-wire cable. As per the DIN 19 234 (NAMUR) standard, it requires a specific polarity to function correctly.

• Brown (BRAUN): PLUS (+) Signal / Power

• White (WEISS): MINUS (-) Ground / Return

Important Note:

Since this is a NAMUR (DIN 19 234) sensor, it acts as a variable resistor. It does not output a standard 24V PNP/NPN signal directly. It is typically connected to:

1. A NAMUR Isolation Amplifier.

2. A Pulse Logger or PLC input card specifically designed for NAMUR signals.
